Age Calculator
Calculate your exact age in years, months, days, hours and minutes from your birthday.
What Is an Age Calculator?
An age calculator is a tool that computes exactly how old you are based on your date of birth and a reference date (usually today). Unlike simply subtracting years, a precise age calculator accounts for months, days, leap years, and even hours and minutes — giving you a complete picture of your life lived so far.
Our tool goes beyond a simple year count. It shows your age broken down into every unit of time: total days lived, total hours, weeks, and even provides a real-time countdown to your next birthday.
How to Use This Age Calculator
- Enter your date of birth in the "Date of Birth" field.
- Choose a reference date in "Age On Date" (defaults to today, but you can pick any past or future date).
- Click Calculate Age to instantly see your full age breakdown.
- Use the Copy Results button to copy all the stats to your clipboard.
The calculator correctly handles leap years, varying month lengths, and all timezone-neutral date arithmetic to give accurate results every time.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the age calculator handle leap years?
The calculator uses proper calendar-aware date arithmetic. When computing months and days, it accounts for February having 28 or 29 days depending on whether the year is a leap year. The total days calculation uses the exact millisecond difference between two dates, so it's always precise regardless of leap years.
Can I calculate the age of someone born before 1900?
Yes. The calculator works with any valid date your browser supports in the date input field. For very historical dates, you can type the year directly into the date field. The math remains accurate for any date in the Gregorian calendar.
Why might my age show differently in different countries?
Most Western countries count age as the number of fully completed years since birth. Some East Asian cultures traditionally count age differently (adding 1 at birth, or adding 1 at the new year). This calculator uses the internationally standard method — counting fully completed years from the date of birth.
How is the next birthday countdown calculated?
The tool finds the next occurrence of your birth month and day in the current or upcoming year. If your birthday has already passed this year, it shows the countdown to next year's birthday. If you were born on February 29 (leap day), the countdown targets March 1 on non-leap years.
Is the "Age On Date" field useful?
Absolutely! The "Age On Date" field lets you calculate how old someone was (or will be) on a specific date — for example, how old a person was on the day of a historical event, or how old someone will be on a future date. By default it's set to today, but you can change it freely.
Does this tool store my date of birth?
No. All calculations happen entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No data is sent to any server, and nothing is stored. Your date of birth is private and never leaves your device.
