What is a Decision Maker?

A decision maker is a tool that helps you make better choices by removing emotion and bias from the decision-making process. Whether you're facing a simple choice (which restaurant?) or a complex decision (career change?), Decision Maker provides three powerful methods to analyze your options systematically and objectively.

How to Use Decision Maker

Spin the Wheel: Perfect for fun, quick decisions or breaking ties. Add 2-12 options and let the wheel randomly select the winner. Great for group decisions where you want a fair, chance-based outcome.

Weighted Matrix: Best for complex decisions with multiple factors. Add your options and criteria (like cost, quality, speed). Rate each option per criterion (1-5 stars), assign weights to show which criteria matter most, and the tool calculates the mathematically best option.

Pro/Con List: Ideal for single yes-or-no decisions. List pros and cons, assign importance ratings (1-5) to each, and get a score showing whether the pros or cons outweigh each other.

Why Use Decision Maker?

Making decisions is hard. Emotion, bias, and analysis paralysis can lead to poor choices. Decision Maker provides a structured, data-driven approach to turn messy decisions into clear answers. All calculations happen locally in your browser—no data is sent to servers, so your decisions stay completely private. Plus, all decisions are saved to your device so you can review past choices.

How accurate is the wheel spinner?

The wheel uses cryptographic random number generation for true randomness. This is as random as it gets in a browser—the same technology used for secure applications.

Can I use the weighted matrix for major life decisions?

Absolutely! The weighted matrix is excellent for big decisions like job offers, moving, or investments. It forces you to think through criteria objectively. However, use the tool to structure your thinking—don't let the numbers make your final decision alone.

What's the difference between pro/con and the weighted matrix?

Pro/Con list is simpler for single yes-or-no decisions ("Should I do X?"). Weighted Matrix is for comparing multiple options against multiple criteria ("Which option is best?"). Choose the mode that fits your decision type.

Does Decision Maker save my decisions?

Yes! All decisions are saved to your browser's local storage. They persist even if you close and reopen the tool. However, they're only saved on this specific device and browser—not synced to the cloud.

Is my data safe and private?

Completely safe. Everything runs in your browser—we don't send any data to servers. Your decisions are 100% private. Even we can't see them.

How do I compare this with other decision-making methods?

Decision Maker is fastest for quick decisions (wheel), most thorough for complex multi-factor decisions (matrix), and simplest for binary decisions (pro/con). It's designed to be fast and free, not replace a financial advisor or therapist—use it as a thinking tool alongside trusted advice.
