💡 Strategy Tips
Avoid Predictability: The AI learns from your patterns after round 3. Mix up your choices randomly.
Randomness Wins: Choosing the same move repeatedly gives the AI an advantage. Keep every round unpredictable!
Build Your Lead Early: The first 3 rounds are purely random. Try to get ahead before the AI learns your patterns!
How to Play
Rock Paper Scissors is a classic hand game made digital. Here's how it works:
- Choose Your Move: Click one of the three buttons: Rock (✊), Paper (✋), or Scissors (✌️)
- Computer Responds: The computer makes its choice and reveals it instantly
- See the Result: Rock crushes Scissors, Scissors cuts Paper, Paper covers Rock. Matching choices result in a draw
- Track Your Score: Win 3 out of 5 rounds to win the match
- Adapt Your Strategy: After round 3, the computer begins analyzing your move patterns to predict your choices
Game Rules & AI Logic
The computer opponent uses two distinct strategies depending on the stage of the match:
Rounds 1-3 (Learning Phase): The computer chooses completely randomly, giving you a fair opportunity to build a lead without worrying about pattern detection.
Rounds 4-5 (Pattern Detection): The computer analyzes your last 3 moves to identify patterns. It looks for sequences like "always rock after paper-scissors" and uses this to predict your next move, then counters it with the winning choice.
Win Condition: First player to win 3 rounds wins the match. The match ends immediately once either player reaches 3 wins, even if rounds remain.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the AI know what I'll play?
The AI doesn't actually know—it uses pattern detection. In rounds 1-3, it plays randomly. From round 4 onward, it analyzes your last 3 moves looking for sequences. If it detects a pattern, it predicts your next move and counters it. True randomness will always beat pattern detection!
Can I beat the AI after round 3?
Absolutely! The AI isn't perfect at prediction. Even with pattern analysis enabled, unpredictable, random choices will beat it. Avoid repeating the same move consecutively and don't develop obvious sequences in your play.
What if we both throw the same thing?
That's a draw. Neither player receives a point, but the round still counts toward the match progress. You need 3 wins out of 5 rounds to win the match overall.
Does it reset after each game?
Yes! Click "Reset Match" to start fresh. Your score, round counter, and the AI's pattern memory all reset completely. This starts a new best-of-5 match from scratch.
Is the AI really learning my patterns?
Yes, from round 4 onward. The AI tracks your last 3 moves and looks for repeating sequences. For example, if you consistently play rock after playing "paper then scissors," the AI will predict rock next and throw paper to beat you. This is why staying unpredictable is essential!
Why best-of-5 format?
Best-of-5 is the standard competitive format. With an odd number of rounds, you can't tie, ensuring a clear winner. The match ends as soon as one player reaches 3 wins—you don't have to play all 5 rounds if the outcome is already decided.
